Tomlinson's New Plan to Pay Hess's Salary?

Scenario:

You want to sell your house but Kearney CBO/By-law Enforcement Officer Henry Hess says you need to pay him to do a final inspection because one was never done when your house was built. But you built the house and you know that a final inspection was done. So Henry goes looking through the files and it seems he can't find it. This isn't a hypothetical scenario; this is happening regularly in the town of Kearney.

So what happens?

You have to pay Henry to do another inspection, that's what.

And who knows what other "violations" Henry might find during the inspection? Is that rain barrel up to code? Is your grass mowed to exactly 3 inches? Is that closet door the required thickness?

Henry's making triple the pay our previous CBO made, so Mayor Paul Tomlinson wants him to rake in as much money as possible.

So if you're planning to put your house on the market, don't be surprised if Henry can't find the paperwork for your Final Inspection.

Are you surprised?
